Y.M.C.A. Clerk Passes in Home
Oliver E. Eckstrom, 59, familiarly known as Dad Eckstrom, night clerk at
the Y.M.C.A., died at 8:30 last night in his home, 604 Tenth Avenue Moline,
following an illness of three months.
He was born in Sweden on Dec. 23, 1866. He married Carrie Farber in Zuma
on February 18, 1890. Mr. Eckstrom was a member of Camp 38 M.W.A. Eight years
ago he came to East Moline from Port Byron and served as clerk for the East
Moline association, later being transferred to the Moline Y.M.C.A.
Surviving are the widow, four daughters, Mrs. DeWitt Foskitt fo Erie,
Mrs. Carl Nicklason of Moline, Izetta May Eckstrom, Moline and Carroll
Eckstrom of Ames, Iowa , one son Lester of Moline, two brothers, Charles
Eckstrom of St. Charles, Ill. and Emil Eckstrom of Henry County, Ill. and
four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. The body has been
removed to Knox funeral home where friends may call.

Ekstrom Funeral
Funeral Services for Oliver Ekstrom, night clerk of the Moline Y.M.C.A.,
were held at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the residence, 604 Tenth
avenue, Moline, and at 2 o'clock in the church at Zuma. Rev. T.J. Walker,
pastor of the Second Congregational church of Moline, officiated. Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Malthers, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook and Mrs. Isolda Mumma sang,
accompanied at the piano by Miss Katherine Mead. Pallbearers were Arthur
LIncke, Benjamin Farber, Walter Farber, Nathan Lundeen, Axel Swanson and
Victor Fryxell. Interment was in the Zuma cemetery.
